Can I fail a drug test by using CBD products?
This is one of the most popularly asked questions amongst people that are considering using CBD (cannabidiol) supplemental products.
If the strain of CBD has been bred correctly then no, you will not fail a drug test using pure CBD products. In today’s marketplace CBD products are prohibited from containing more than 0.3% of the psychoactive chemical Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is is naturally found in the cannabis plant.
THC is one of one hundred plus cannabinoids identified in cannabis and is the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis. The chemical formula for THC (C21H30O2) describes multiple isomers, but the term THC usually refers to the Delta-9-THC isomer with chemical name (−)-trans-Δ⁹-tetrahydrocannabinol. Like most pharmacologically active secondary metabolites of plants, THC is a lipid found in cannabis which has been identified in protecting against insect predation, ultraviolet light, and environmental stress.
However, many knockoff and cheap brands have been known to cause people to fail drug tests by testing positive for THC. Brands that do not have current licensed testing more times than none are an immediate warning sign. Premium quality CBD dominant strains of cannabis are not cheap to cultivate or harvest. Sometimes cheap bulk CBD tends to test over 0.3% THC, which is not enough to have a psychoactive effect, but is enough to cause a positive for THC on a urine analysis. Cheap industrial grade hemp on the other hand is a risk and it doesn’t quite pack the same punch as specific CBD dominant strains. A reliable trusted name brand of CBD tinctures, gel caps, flower joints, edibles, rubs and more is a great way to enjoy the relaxing benefits that cannabis CBD can provide. Namely, without the stress of failing a surprise drug test as you arrive to the office early Monday morning.
